The History of Our Asset Based Communications & Community Development Movement
The Peace in the Morning Show was birthed out of watching my mother Queen Ayacodobae perform and putting me behind a microphone at 5 years old on stage at the Baltimore Arena (formerly the Civic Center) and watching my father Leslie N. Stanton, a high school basketball cable TV sports commentator. As a result of seeing them in action I became a producer and host of my first TV show called Annapolis Fights Back a weekly public affairs show I led as the Drug Czar for the City of Annapolis. I would go on to produce TV and radio shows for and with youth at the Boys & Girls Club. After receiving my Master's Degree from The Lincoln University in Human Services Administration I sought out to eradicate our communities of the social ills of domestic violence, poverty, and poor self images. I decided based on my research the most effective way to impact people's behavior was through mass communications. At the urging of my father after hearing me on WEAA, Morgan State University radio on the Farjii Muhammad show, I decided to take his advice and start my own show. My return to media was internet radio with Monica Petty (The Diamond) on a blog talk show titled "The Solution Hour" and then I moved on to broadcasting the "Peace in the Morning Show with Darius A. Stanton" weekdays Monday through Friday. I was encouraged by producer and on air personality the late, Roland "Bubba" Grimes to do the show daily. Thanks to the commitment of my good friend and Co-host Delegate Darryl Barnes and my mother Queen Ayacodobae we currently have over 100 shows on YouTube and even more on Facebook with over 100,000 views with the intent of promoting solution oriented media that models asset based communications & community development.
